At the exhibition photographs from the time of World War II are presented, unseen by anyone except their previous owners or antiquarians who happened upon the negatives by chance.
Project author Arthur Bondar and exhibition curator Sona Stepanyan aim to present the reality in which these photographs were taken, using them as tangible evidence of the past. They reconstruct the history captured in the images and explore the history of wartime photography.
Arthur Bondar has assembled an impressive collection by searching for unknown negatives at flea markets and online auctions worldwide. This collection includes unique frames taken by photographer Valery Faminsky, which were fortunately acquired from descendants, as well as personal archives of civilians and soldiers, and collages depicting military actions published in Soviet newspapers. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to be the first to see these rare photographs.
