The exhibition explores the development of a unified clothing modeling system for industrial production in the past century. It focuses on three key "clothing institutes" that were significant for Moscow and the entire country.
Visitors learn about the history and structure of these institutions, their principles of interaction with industry and society, and explore projects by renowned fashion designers. However, the exhibition is not merely a retrospective of a century-old concept of model homes but also an attempt to answer questions about the organization of the Soviet fashion industry and whether this system could function in the conditions of that time.
The exhibition brings together sketches and projects of women's, men's, and children's clothing collections, numerous publications with patterns illustrating the evolution of style, photographs, as well as audio and video recordings of famous fashion shows. Additionally, the exhibition showcases materials from artists' family archives and private collections. For instance, it features Vladimir Favorsky's sketches for the facade of the Model House on Sretenka and a collection by designer Lina Telegina, which impressed Yves Saint Laurent during his visit to Moscow, among other highlights.
